At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a Maryland delegate, followed Benjamin Franklin from Independence Hall. He recorded a question asked by a lady, directed at Dr. Franklin.

The lady asked, "Well Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?"

"A republic," replied Dr. Franklin, "if you can keep it."

Is Rep. Alan Grayson too ill to serve in Congress?

I hate to admit it, but until recently, I never knew that Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) existed. There are a lot of liberals in Congress and his shrill voice blended into the strident calls for ObamaCare, bigger government, higher taxes levied against certain categories of taxpayers (that didn't include him personally), etc. He joined with both the House, Senate, White House and their staffs in exempting those august gilded individuals from the provisions of ObamaCare.

Who can blame Grayson for exempting himself and his staff from ObamaCare as a matter of law? That's about the only thing that Grayson has done I can understand. It was a gratuitous act self-serving political feather-nesting, but then again, THAT is Grayson.

I don't think that Grayson has ever been a member of the Klu Klux Klan, they way that Sen. Byrd was. Sen. Byrd is the senior member of the Democratic Party in the US Legislature. However Grayson did state (loudly) that if ObamaCare did not pass, "it would (will) cause a holocaust." We need to give Grayson the benefit of the doubt because he might not know what a holocaust or THE holocaust was. However, is this sort of political wingnut the kind of man we need in Congress. I'm not a doctor, but I think he's ill.

Congressman Grayson may not have to worry about ObamaCare after November, when he stands for re-election. I suspect that the people know who this alarmist -- wingnut is. He's represented his district poorly in the halls of Congress and should step down now due to personal health issues - he must be too ill to serve based on what he says. Or he can wait a few months until he's voted from office. Then he can return to his multi-million dollar law practice and his mansion. I'm sure he won't need ObamaCare (remember he's exempt) since Wikipedia puts his net worth at $31,000,000. He can afford care for his painful...and somewhat embarrassing mental lapses. Once he vanishes from public service and barricades himself in his mansion we as the public won't have to concern ourselves with him again.

Grayson considers the US Healthcare System to be one of the worst in the world, based on his rhetoric. Many including me (and then again, who am I?) believe to the contrary that the US Healthcare System before ObamaCare was the best healthcare system in the world. Is Congressman Grayson's assertion the opinion of a "healthy" man?

I leave it to you to decide.

Obama Stands with Israel?

If I was a traditional ally of the United States of America (Great Britain, other NATO Countries, Israel, Australia, etc.), I'd be having second thoughts. barack hussein obama is a poor excuse for an American commander-in-chief and as a closet Muslim, his loyalties seem to be far closer to terrorist states and to states that harbor terrorists than they are to anyone else.

Let the States Decide on Healthcare

Several states including Virginia are pushing to roll back State's Rights and to bring the Interstate Commerce Clause in the Constitution to a balanced perspective. The left is grinding its teeth as Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli goes to court this week to overturn the new healthcare law, which he says conflicts with a Virginia statute "protecting its citizens from a government-imposed mandate to buy health insurance."

AG Cuccinelli said, "Normally, such conflicts are decided in favor of the federal government," he said, "but because we believe the federal law is unconstitutional, Virginia's law should prevail."

In a suit separate from Cuccinelli's, 13 state attorneys general — 12 Republicans and a conservative Democrat from Louisiana — also challenged the mandate, arguing that the federal government cannot force states to pay for an expanded Medicaid program and take other steps the ObamaCare law requires.

There are a number of actions being taken by various states on a number of issues from the collectivist ObamaCare law to gun control issues, and education which will end up in the Supreme Court and there are many including me, who want to see a ruling on how far the Federal Government can go riding everything it shoves down the throat of the American people as justified by "regulation of interstate commerce". The word regulation means to normalize and make equal, not to govern every body of water no matter how small, to pass laws such as the ObamaCare Bill, etc.

Let me offer an example: If Massachusetts voters want to pay for universal healthcare for people who live in that state, I have NO PROBLEM with it. Let them pay as much as they like. If you live in Massachusetts and want to move, you can. You don't have to leave the nation. Massachusetts voters did just that and I hope they're happy with the results.

If Arizona voters decide NOT to offer universal healthcare and you feel as if you want a free ride, you should pack up the Buick and move to Massachusetts. But in Arizona, you have to pay for insurance or to cover your costs.

Allowing the voters to pay for what they want to pay for and not pay for what they don't want to pay for couldn't be more simple. It has the virtue of actual public debate (unlike ObamaCare which was not debated and as Speaker Pelosi said, "You'll have to pass the Bill to see what's in it."

Washington DC has distanced itself from The People and it's time to bring these issues back to the states themselves where people can decide what it is that they want and don't want. It should not be the concern of the Federal Government if the law does not cross state lines.

Allow Idaho voters to decide how their education money is spent and don't send their tax dollars to Washington to be distributed outside Idaho. Allow Texas to select the textbooks it wants to use and Rhode Island to select different textbooks if the voters make that decision.

THAT, my friends, is the intent of the Constitution.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

For some reason, "the Left" has a new line of rhetoric which states that the 2100+ page healthcare monstrosity that they want to "deem as passed" without a vote is "what the Republicans wanted all along?"

I'm not stridently pro-Republican, but somebody spiked the Kool Aid real hard and the Democrats drank it all, if that's what they think.

It's a $2,000,000,000,000.00 white elephant and there is NOTHING good that will come of it. I don't think there is anybody who would be opposed to a rational healthcare overhaul that included opening the markets nationally to all healthcare providers to allow free enterprise to work - ultimately lowering costs through competition or capping tort awards to reduce the price doctors have to pay (and pass on to patients) for their insurance. But that's not the creature the Democratic Congress and Barack Hussein Obama are trying to peddle to the American Public.

ObamaCare and Pelosi

Finally, somebody captured the ESSENCE of ObamaCare.

No detailed explanation to the People of what they are buying for $2,000,000,000,000.00 (two trillion dollars). No detailed analysis. Just pass the damned thing in "whatever form" and bind the nation to whatever comes our way. That is the essence of the Barack Hussein Obama Administration and the fools in Congress. No respect for the people, no honor, no ethics, just soulless hulks holding office.

More Obama Corruption

h/t IBD

Just when you thought you'd heard it all--and the trail of corruption in the Obama Administration is broad and easily navigable. There is yet another Obama Scandal, this one involving banking. Recall if you will that Barack Hussein Obama said (on CBS Sixty Minutes"I did not run for office to be helping out a bunch of fat-cat bankers on Wall Street," Speaking to those bankers, he said: "You guys are drawing down 10, 20 million dollar bonuses after America went through the worst economic year that it's gone through in — in decades, and you guys caused the problem."

Not all those fat cats, apparently, are on Wall Street. Some are on Main Street in the president's hometown. One of those "guys" recently won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate seat once held by Barack Hussein Obama.

Another bank failure is nothing new these days — except if the bank is run by the family of a U.S. Senate candidate who profited handsomely and lent millions to a convicted felon. But then, that's the Chicago way.

He's an Obama protege and fundraiser. His name is Alexi Giannoulias, and his family runs the Broadway Bank in Chicago, a financially troubled institution that the feds appear ready to seize and shut down. He is running for U.S. Senate from Illinois.

Last Friday, Crain's Chicago Business reported that the Giannoulias family stood to collect more than $10 million in federal tax refunds even if the bank does fail. "It's quite likely the bank will fail," the Chicago Tribune reported Giannoulias as saying last Wednesday, unless "they can raise the capital to keep the bank going," an amount estimated at $85 million.

As sole owner of a Subchapter S corporation that controls $1.2 billion-in-assets Broadway, the family pays the taxes on the bank's income and reaps tax deductions on its losses. Giannoulias did not say if the family would put the $10 million back into the bank as a start.

Giannoulias was senior lender at Broadway between 2002 and 2006, before winning election as Illinois treasurer in 2006. He stepped down from operational duties after deciding to run for public office. The expected tax refund comes on top of $70 million in dividends the family, including Giannoulias himself, took in 2007 and 2008.

As Chicago Tribune political writer Rick Pearson has reported, Alexi Giannoulias was very much an integral player in helping Barack Obama get seed money for his 2004 U.S. Senate race. He provided entree to Chicago's Greek community. In return, Obama in 2006 warmly endorsed Giannoulias: "He's one of the most outstanding young men that I could ever hope to meet. He's somebody who cares deeply about people."

If you expected something in this article that will shock you - most of us are numb to that. With Barack Hussein Obama, it's just the daily outrageous conduct.

Define "Extremist" for me

The Infidel Blogger's Alliance (h/t) posted a blog based on a newsmax piece and I'd like to follow up on it here on Can we keep our Republic?

Friday, 05 Mar 2010 09:07 AM

WASHINGTON – The U.S. has seen an "explosion" in the number of extremist groups and armed militias which advocate radical anti-government doctrines and conspiracy theories, a recent report has found. The number of active "Patriot" groups nearly tripled last year to 512 from 149 in 2008, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks the activities of hate groups.

"We saw a real explosion in militias and the larger anti-government patriot movement," said Mark Potok, who directs the group's Intelligence Report."

I have no idea who Mark Potok really is, however since he represents the Southern Poverty Law Center, I'd put him somewhere left of the ACLU.

Potok didn't define his criteria of "hate group" or "extremist". There are some people, including me, who might suspect that the Southern Poverty Law Center is an "extremist group". So defining our terms becomes very important.

Would Potok consider me an "extremist" from reading my blog? Likely he would. Would Potok consider anyone who is opposed to the process of national socialization that the Barack Hussein Obama Administration undertook over the past year to be an extremist simply because they disagreed? I think that answer would be a "yes".

Let's reframe the question this way: Are a majority of Americans VERY Concerned at the path the Barack Hussein Obama Administration and the radical left Congressional leadership has taken this nation?

If the answer to that question is "yes" and if opposing the Barack Hussein Obama agenda for America makes one an "extremist" -- it would make sense that the number of extremists in America are growing.

The Tea Party Groups are made up of a wide variety of people who are rich/poor, fat/thin, male/female, young/old, and come from a diverse ethnic background. Liberals don't mind insulting people based on race, gender affiliation or any other criteria if the people being insulted aren't liberals. Does that make people who attend Tea Party meetings "extremists"? Does it make them dangerous, (beyond their ability to vote the bums from office)? The Tea Parties aren't anti government at all. They're anti - the administration of Barack Hussein Obama and the radically socialistic Congressional leadership. There is a difference that Mr. Potok may not be bright enough to discern.

You don't have to be a mathematical genius to understand that ammunition factories in America are working three shifts at full capacity to fill the demand, yet it's tough to find ammo on shelves at gun stores. The public FEARS the Barack Hussein Obama administration and they aren't buying ammo purely for target practice or for hunting. They FEAR that they may be forced to defend themselves against the government. It's not racial fear or "hatred" that impels them. It's FEAR of a radical administration that was swept into office under other pretenses, but swiftly revealed itself to be other than what the American people seem to feel is in their best interests. Some Americans joke that Barack Hussein Obama did more to save the firearms industry in America than anyone else was able to do because the public is arming itself in record numbers due to FEAR, not of criminals or foreign invaders but of their OWN GOVERNMENT.

The best way to keep the republic a republic is to support people for public office who oppose the national socialist/utopian socialist agenda of the present administration. That much is self-evident.  When the next administration comes into office, we'll find that the extremists aren't quite so extreme. Of course, I'm sure that people from the radically leftist Southern Poverty Law Center won't agree with me.

Obama - Lost in Translation

The healthcare bill/ObamaCare has been misrepresented by the politicians who advocate for it and Barack Hussein Obama has lied to the American people (yet again).

However, it's really worse than that because while Nero is fiddling, things are approaching a crisis point. At the rate they're growing, Social Security, Medicare and Medicade will consume the ENTIRE Federal Budget by 2036 (and I'm not including the disastrous ObamaCare in the mix).

The Hensarling-Pence-Campbell Spending Limit Amendment seems to be the only option to return the nation to solvency.  As IBD put it, "It snaps the public purse closed on every Washington politician's fingers." I know what the Democrats (and some RINO's) are telling the American people, however you can't borrow more and more forever. The national debt is up to $12 trillion, and Barack Hussein Obama and friends want to tack on an additional $2.5 trillion with ObamaCare - that most Americans neither want nor need.

The Hensarling-Pense-Campbell propose a Spending Limit Amendment to the Constitution that would restrain the federal government to the average expenditures of the post-World War II era — 20% of the U.S. economy. It would take a declaration of war or a two-thirds vote by Congress to waive the spending constraints. It would force us to live within our means. Congress could spend more if the economy grows -- and may give some impetus to the notion that punishing private industry is bad. It's a concept lost on Barack Hussein Obama and his gang of Chicago thugs, socialists and nere-do-wells, but it's great for the economy.

Rahm Emanuel - Chicago Thug

Rahm, above right, showing his true colors at the Barack Hussein Obama crowning. They're in the White House, sending a dead fish to his critics worked. For the next four years, the country will be run "The Chicago Way". For Rahm Emanuel, a Jew who seems to be ashamed of being Jewish - the consolation prize for only being Chief-of-Staff and not president is that he gets...Pelosi (oh that's just WRONG)?
