At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a Maryland delegate, followed Benjamin Franklin from Independence Hall. He recorded a question asked by a lady, directed at Dr. Franklin.

The lady asked, "Well Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?"

"A republic," replied Dr. Franklin, "if you can keep it."

New Year's Eve

I tried to find something to share that will echo my anticipated New Year's Eve.

Happy New Year!!

I'm not in Toledo, Ohio. But the vibe seems to clone the experience I'd be having if I lived in Toledo.

I'm sorry, but John Denver died hitting a tree in his car while saving the planet. Never, were any condolances made to the tree or any of its root stock. Call me a hard ass, but that tree had feelings too!

I grew up on John Denver 8-tracks! Good choice for the New Year...

(He died flying his experimental plane off a cliff into the Pacific...hopefully not something on your bucket list.)

Race - I don't plan to follow John D into that good night.

And NY Eve was about as uneventful as a Saturday Night in Toledo...
