At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a Maryland delegate, followed Benjamin Franklin from Independence Hall. He recorded a question asked by a lady, directed at Dr. Franklin.

The lady asked, "Well Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?"

"A republic," replied Dr. Franklin, "if you can keep it."

Voting Results

I wanted to make a few comments on the election. I don't know that my observations are any more or less valid than anyone else's.

I live in California and voters in the Golden State simply amaze me. I'm ashamed of them -- Boxer and Brown? Ok, I thought that both Fiorina and Whitman were unappealing, lame RINO candidates and didn't do much to support them except for reluctantly voting for them as the lesser of two evils. Jerry Brown's speech included the revelation that he married -- a woman. That's just a bit shocking. There wasn't much else from the Brown speech except that things in California will get a whole lot worse before they get better. Brown feels that renewable energy will turn the corner in California...Governor Moonbeam returns. He's every bit as much a space cat as he was when Californians ran him from office years ago.

Florida did well. Marco Rubio was an excellent choice for the US Senate. Allen West will be a great Congressman and Alan Grayson was sent packing back to the rock he crawled out from under.

John Kasich won the governor's race in Ohio. Ohio won. The Obama seat in the US Senate has gone to Mark Kirk (a Republican), which is a pleasant message, sent to the Chief Executive on the eve of his trip to India where he will bow and scrape, begging the Indians for forgiveness for whatever (since that's sort of what Obama does).

The House of Representatives will have the ability to investigate irregularities in the Obama regime nobody knows how the chips will fall with that. Pop some corn, watch and wait.

LL I feel sorry for all of you consevative ideologists in California, and in my former home state of Massachusetts. New England suffers from the same disease! Luckily, after living my whole life in MA I was able to escape the politics, morals, taxes and wintes up there, and now reside in the sane state of Florida (at least they're sane for the moment). I have already written to Boehner expressing my expectation that working with the Dems on the obama agenda, and compromise for the sake of compromise, will NOT be tolerated. But that he needs to trust the American people will recognize the game the Dems are poised to play, and will reward Constitutional stands on the issues if the Reps choose that course. They will NOT be considered the "do nothing party" as has happened in the past. I much rather see the government shut down completely before yeilding one more inch to the obama agenda. And I told Boehner that. Our big challenge now is keeping abreast of what Cass Sustein is doing. As there will be little legislation coming out of Washington, the regulations will be plentiful. And that guy is a true nutjob! Stay vigilant!!!

I think the people of California, Washington and Nevada, to name a few, really need to get their heads out of their asses.

I too live in California and I'm ashamed of many of the voters here. This is a welfare state. Programs, programs and more programs. I live in the central valley and you can go all day and not hear one word of English. All Spanish from illegals. They roam free and demand, demand and demand. They also have filled up the jails too. It's crazy here.

Have a terrific day. :)
