At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a Maryland delegate, followed Benjamin Franklin from Independence Hall. He recorded a question asked by a lady, directed at Dr. Franklin.

The lady asked, "Well Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?"

"A republic," replied Dr. Franklin, "if you can keep it."

Airport Security & Common Sense

We all want to be safe and in the airport and in the air. Let's face it, fundamentalist Muslim terrorists are no joke. So everyone is subjected to general misery at the hands of TSA because heaven forbid that fundamentalist Muslim terrorists are "profiled".

My 80 year old mother, flying from one California city to another is not a Muslim, and not a terrorist, and they kept her in security for about 30 minutes as they went through her medications and vitamins to insure that she wasn't smuggling ILLEGAL pills. Oh, come on, TSA - I know these screeners are making near minimum wage but REALLY?

TSA Searches (and traumatizes) a 3 year old girl. (H/T Gateway Pundit)

There is a profile of people who present a danger to the public. I don't think anyone explains this to people at TSA. Yes, anyone can be a terrorist - but a modicum of common sense can solve SO many problems.

Oh, they explain the profile of the typical terrorist to the folks doing the pat-downs for the TSA. And that information is followed up by a pointed order to NOT check those kinds of people out.

What was just terrible. Glad it was a reporter that it happened to. Makes a big difference on getting the message out.

Have a terrific day. :)

Watcher, that's the problem. We are required to be politically correct - therefore the harassment of small non-threatening children while they let the "terrorists" and their friends through, fearing to offend.

Exactly. Lets cut to the chase. People have a problem with profiling because it is 'not allowed.' They would be more comfortable with it - if it were just an accepted practice.

And why is it "not allowed?" Because we'll hurt someone's feelings?

Let's see...hurt someone's feelings vs. thousands dead...hmmm. Yeah, that is a real poser...

I wrote a blog about everyone being harrassed in order to not offend those who SHOULD BE PROFILED. They don't want to piss of the members of the religion of peace, who are BTW the ones responsible for terrorism, so they harrass people who so OBVIOUSLY aren't a threat. I mean, a deaf, dumb, blind, dead mute could do a better job of securing the airlines than the TSA!
