At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a Maryland delegate, followed Benjamin Franklin from Independence Hall. He recorded a question asked by a lady, directed at Dr. Franklin.

The lady asked, "Well Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?"

"A republic," replied Dr. Franklin, "if you can keep it."

So much for National Security

This is based on a Fox New Story. CLICK HERE for details.

How many of you trust our Afghan allies? Run around in circles and shout if you do.  If you don't, do you think that SOMEBODY should be watching those of them who are here in the US undergoing military training - learning to fly jets and so forth?

Apparently the Department of Homeland Security is too busy watching people who oppose illegal immigration, are returning veterans, retired police officers, those who are pro-life and the people who attend Tea Party Rallies (a really scruffy bunch). At least we know that's a priority of Secretary Janet Napolitano.

This from FOX NEWS:
The Afghans were attending the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. The DLI program teaches English to military pilot candidates and other air force prospects from foreign countries allied with the U.S.
"I can confirm that 17 have gone missing from the Defense Language Institute," said Gary Emery, Chief of Public Affairs, 37th Training Wing, at Lackland AFB. "They disappeared over the course of the last two years, and none in the last three months."
Each Afghan was issued a Department of Defense Common Access Card, an identification card used to gain access to secure military installations, with which they "could attempt to enter DOD installations," according to the bulletin. (click the link above for the whole story)

Sometimes I ask myself how we can be SO FRIGGING INEPT. Then again, there is no "war on terror" under barack hussein obama. It's now a "foreign contingency operation". The obama regime has redesignated Islamic terrorist actions as "man-caused disasters".
The June 13, 2010 issue of Newsweek wrote, "The Obama administration is very sensitive to avoid alienating Muslims. In a draft of a report sponsored by the State and Defense departments and the RAND Corporation on dealing with the terrorist threat, the title was changed: the term “radical Islamism” became “violent extremism.” Obama officials even resist having a formal public strategy for dealing with Islamic radicalization because they don’t want to label the Muslim community as a security problem." (reported by: With Dafna Linzer and Sebastian Rotella from ProPublica, Christopher Dickey in New York, Daniel Klaidman, Michael Hirsh, John Barry, and Michael Isikoff in Washington, and Sami Yousafzai and Ron Moreau in Islamabad)
With this sort of leadership in Washington DC, is there any wonder that our "Islamic Allies" would be allowed to wander off base, off the radar and into the population with their Department of Defense IDs in hand.

Sleep well, America. Dear Leader would have you believe the real enemy is Israel.

He's just taking care of his people. I've always thought that. I never, repeat never feel safe with the dems in charge. I thought Jimmy Carter was the worst president and never thought I'd see someone worse. Well, I have now.

Have a terrific day. :)

This is highly disturbing. This administration is ignoring the real enemy of the United States while focusing on their political enemies. This administration is clueless in how to combat terrorism and inept in refusing to identify the real enemy properly.

Yeah, this bunch "doesn't have the sense to pour piss out of a boot (with directions on the heel)."

An old Texas proverb I heard from an army buddy from Port Arthur,Tx.

Fredd - barack hussein obama thinks that if he pisses down our back and tells us it's raining that we should believe him.

Teresa - I wonder if barack hussein obama and members of his regime realize that 'the American People' are really not their enemies.

Sandee - barack hussein obama left Jimmy Carter in the dust a long time ago in terms of who is worse. The Daily Outrage plumbs the depths on a daily basis.

"Clueless" and "Inept" are two splendid words to use when describing this administration. 'Course, what the president really needs to do is invite Ichmadinajad (or whatever) to come to the White House for a beer. That'll settle things.

WoFat - I don't think that the Iranian leader drinks (in public) since to do so, is to invite death by stoning, firing squad or having a hot poker rammed where the sun (shouldn't) shine.

However, I would characterize a meeting between barack hussein obama and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as more of a "planning session" than patching anything up. They both have the destruction of the State of Israel as a primary strategic goal.

I think it's time we stop messing around with people who fundamentally hate us and focus more on stuff here at home and our allies. Of course, that entails voting the democrats out... Bonus!
