At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a Maryland delegate, followed Benjamin Franklin from Independence Hall. He recorded a question asked by a lady, directed at Dr. Franklin.
The lady asked, "Well Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?"
"A republic," replied Dr. Franklin, "if you can keep it."

A Run-Away Senate
The Democratic Majority in the US Senate (poorly led by Sen. Harry Reid - NV) made some last minute changes to the Rules of the US Senate so that their healthcare act can't be repealed by a majority vote in a future Congress.
How do YOU feel about that?
The fundamental purpose of Senate rules is to prevent a tyrannical majority from trampling the rights of the minority or of future Congresses.
How do YOU feel about the buying and selling of swing votes with a fortune in taxpayer money?
Yes, I admit that it's typical of the hope and change that President Barack Hussein Obama promised. He did deliver on change, he brought Chicago politics to the White House - who can doubt that?
How we, THE PEOPLE deal with this situation is going to be telling on our own generations and future generations as well. Clearly, there must be a re-shuffling of personnel at the top. Several people I know have called for an ENTIRELY new Congress. At first, I thought that attitude to be a bit extreme. I don't feel that way anymore. A vote of "NO CONFIDENCE" needs to be put forward by the American People.
