At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Dr. James McHenry, a Maryland delegate, followed Benjamin Franklin from Independence Hall. He recorded a question asked by a lady, directed at Dr. Franklin.

The lady asked, "Well Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?"

"A republic," replied Dr. Franklin, "if you can keep it."

White House Informants

Some time ago, I spoke with an FBI Special Agent I worked with about writing a book. The title would be, "HOW TO: Make Money by Being a Government Informer." It was a tongue-in-cheek notion that we had a lot of laughs over.

Today, I'm not laughing. In violation of Federal Law (USC 552a), the Obama Administration has a "rat line". If you see something about the Health Insurance Reform Legislation that doesn't strike you as quite right, you're invited to e-mail flag@whitehouse.gov and inform on the miscreant who is undermining the state-run-media and putting out something that's not the official line.
United States Code § 552a, "United States agencies, including the ExecutiveOffice of the President shall, 'maintain no record describing how any individual exercises rights guaranteed by the First Amendment unless expressly authorized by statute or by the individual about whom the record is maintained or unless pertinent to and within the scope of an authorized law enforcement activity'.”

There is no statue that applies here and could be construed as an exception. The President did it anyway in contravention of United States Law.

Is this an impeachable offense?

The Constitution defines those offenses as "high crimes and misdemeanors". The courts have defined more or less what those crimes are. This statute was enacted by Congress after Watergate (Nixon Administration), so because of the nature of the statute and it's intent, I would think it would be an impeachable offense.

Having said that, I can't imagine the Democratic House impeaching their Messiah for anything under the sun.
